Lala was the oldest player in Zvezda, although he was only 31 or 32 years old. His dedication and persistence during matches served as an example to the younger players. His seriousness and fair-minded attitude towards younger teammates earned him great authority, and his word had a calming effect whenever conflicts arose among the players. He handled such situations in a way that the person at fault, although Lala would never openly name them, simply felt ashamed of their behavior.
He spent a considerable part of his short life in Belgrade, where he worked as a metalworker and acquired a good education and extensive life experience. Combined with his natural intelligence, this enabled him to become highly respected in the Novi Bečej community as a thoughtful and level-headed man.
In his private life, he was a cheerful and sociable person, always ready for a song or a joke, but even in such situations he knew how to maintain the right measure. He never allowed himself or his friends to be placed in a situation where they might be ridiculed or become the subject of gossip.
This attitude towards others, especially towards his friends, regardless of whether they were younger or older, earned him exceptional respect and authority. After he stopped playing football, he became a respected member of the club's management and later served as president of the club's board. His opinions and decisions were highly respected.
Lala was loved as a friend and respected as a man. His life ended tragically – he was killed at his workplace before reaching the age of forty.
