Živa was among the most prominent curriers from Novi Bečej and Vranjevo. Every market day, he displayed his goods, as others did, so he shouldn’t be singled out for that. However, despite his modest education, he was an exceptional figure in the cultural life of Novi Bečej. He early on recognized the cultural lag of the Serbian people compared to the Germans and Hungarians.
He loved to read and, from the very beginning of his independent career as a currier, he bought books. By reading, he wished to encourage his surroundings to read as well and thus contribute to their enlightenment. He enriched his home and workshop with a multitude of books intended for a wide readership. Every market day in Novi Bečej, alongside the stall where he displayed his currier products, he also had another stall where he offered books for the people. These were smaller-format books with popular content and affordable prices. The people bought more books from Uncle Živa than from any bookstore or library in Novi Bečej.
Živa Mirosavljević's role in popularizing books was so significant that it can be compared to the role of the local libraries of that time.
His grave has long since been leveled with the ground, and the monument has merged with the surrounding weeds.
