There is no information about the year of birth or death, but the gravestone reads: Rohonci Leopold died at the age of 54, Šišanji Klara died at the age of 42 in 1861, and Laslo, presumably their son, died at the age of 22 in 1873.
Rohonci Leopold (Lipot), the founder of the family, was originally from Veszprém. He distinguished himself as a colonel during the Great Revolt, particularly in the battles near Novi Bečej, where he married Klara, the granddaughter of Novi Bečej's noblewoman Klara Šišanji. Klara brought a large estate on Biserno Ostrvo as her dowry.
Their son, Gedeon, was a long-time representative in the Hungarian Parliament for the Novi Bečej district.
The Rohonci family were very progressive farmers. The fruits, grapes, melons, wine, and other products from their estate were of exceptional quality and found buyers throughout Austria-Hungary. Whatever came from the Rohonci estate and bore their brand was a guarantee of top quality.
Under the influence of the Rohonci economy in Novi Bečej and Vranjevo, greater attention was given to viticulture and fruit growing. Fruit nurseries were established, and in this field, the sapling producers Farkaš and Sekereš were highly respected.
The Rohonci family also kept racehorses, whose victories brought fame to Novi Bečej even beyond the borders of Austria-Hungary. They won first places, with large cash prizes, across Europe.
Despite all this, their tomb is now overgrown with weeds, and no one visits it. They have no close relatives in Novi Bečej, and sadly, the people of Novi Bečej have forgotten them.
