We begin our second report of the day with wonderful news – after the second round, the bowlers of Jedinstvo took over the leading position in the standings.
Once again, Andrea Vaš delighted everyone with an outstanding performance. She played in great style, and after the first 50 throws the scoreboard showed an impressive 225 pins. Just like in her previous appearance, Andrea produced a dramatic finish. In her penultimate throw, she knocked down nine pins, causing a wave of excitement among the spectators, where we also had tremendous support from the home crowd. She finished her performance with an excellent score of 435 pins.
On the other side, Croatian representative Željka Solomun underperformed and was replaced during her appearance. However, Ljerka Radojčić also failed to shine, and together they achieved a modest total of 392 pins. Neither Hungarian player Erika Balog (410), nor Romanian Lilijana Bajonaru (424), managed to reach their expected level, allowing Jedinstvo to move into first place.
After the second round, the standings were led by Jedinstvo, followed by Rapid, Kofem, and Rijeka Kvarner Osiguranje.
Ivana Eremić Preserves the Advantage
Ivana Eremić has just completed her appearance after a great battle with Croatian player Sonja Mikić. The two bowlers produced almost identical performances. After the first 50 throws, Ivana had an advantage of 11 pins.
The continuation brought a moment of uncertainty that could have cost us dearly. After committing one foul, Ivana made another mistake, resulting in a red card and the cancellation of six pins. Despite this setback, she managed to keep her advantage and narrowly defeated Sonja Mikić by 407:406.
At that moment, Jedinstvo still had a 51-pin advantage over the team from Rijeka Kvarner Osiguranje.
Croatian Comeback
After the performance of our fourth bowler, Ildiko Kormanjoš, Jedinstvo lost the leading position to Rijeka Kvarner Osiguranje.
Unfortunately, it was simply not Ildiko’s day. After the first 50 throws, it was already clear that experienced Croatian player Danica Sopić had an opportunity to turn the situation around. Ildiko had 198 pins after 50 throws, while her opponent had an impressive 227.
Ildiko was unable to find her rhythm in the remainder of the match and finished with 390 pins, while Danica Sopić recorded an excellent 441. That result was enough for the Croatian team to overtake Jedinstvo by three pins.
Jedinstvo Returns to First Place
The shortest way to describe this fifth report of the day is: it is good, very good. The results of our opponents are going in our favor.
Jedinstvo returned to the top of the standings thanks to Jelena Majstorović, who knocked down 401 pins. Our team now has a nine-pin advantage over Rijeka Kvarner Osiguranje, ten pins over Rapid, and 35 pins over Hungarian Kofem.
A medal is getting closer. At the moment of this report, our final player Đenđi Kiš is on the lanes and could become the deciding factor. On the neighboring lane, her opponent is Biserka Perman, who achieved a fantastic score of 484 pins in the first stage of the European Cup. We hope she will not repeat such an outstanding performance this time and that Jedinstvo will manage to preserve its advantage until the very end.
