Record of Nikola Dragaš

Record of Nikola Dragaš

The new bowling alley soon became the venue for numerous official competitions, with a true spectacle taking place: a two-match series between the junior and senior teams of Yugoslavia and Hungary, held from March 18 to 20, 1977.
This friendly encounter was marked by Nikola Dragaš, then the best bowler in Yugoslavia, with a record of 997 pins, a feat that would remain unmatched for many years.

Events like this contributed to the growing popularity of bowling in Novi Bečej. Naturally, the bowlers of Jedinstvo, members of the Banat League, had excellent working conditions in their new home, which would soon lead to better results.
Thus, in the 1977/78 season, the bowlers of Jedinstvo won first place in the Banat League, securing their promotion to the Vojvodina League, the highest level of competition in SFR Yugoslavia.
The bowlers became champions of the Vojvodina League twice (in 1984 and 1987). They participated three times in the final tournaments for the champion of SFRJ, in Skopje (1984), Zagreb (1987), and in 1988, as runners-up, at the tournament in Split.
