The chapel known as Manastir is located in Novi Bečej on the left bank of the Tisa River (near the current cargo dock) and was likely built at the beginning of the 18th century. According to tradition, the chapel was constructed on the site of an earlier Serbian monastery that was burned down by the Turks when they arrived in Potisje.
The chapel, along with its iconostasis and other items (a triptych - an iconographic work from the 17th century, parts of an old iconostasis: royal doors, a crucifix with a crucifixion above the altar, and about 13 other old icons), holds historical and artistic value. They serve as evidence of cultural and artistic activities from the late 17th and early 18th centuries, providing valuable material for studying the cultural conditions and activities of this period. Therefore, they are protected by law (Resolution of the Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, number 104, dated May 23, 1967).
