One hundred years of existence — how grand and magnificent it sounds. Certainly, such an anniversary obliges us to leave a written trace of this significant milestone through this monograph dedicated to all those who have passed through our school over these hundred years.

Looking from a historical distance, a period of a hundred years represents a very significant era during which this institution can narrate numerous beautiful stories, based on archival material and historical facts. What marks the centenary of our school's existence is the presence of a rich past, a part of which we have attempted to recount through this monograph.

If I were a historian or perhaps a poet, I would write a story or a poem for this occasion, but I am just a man who has always enjoyed celebrations. I am happy that this precious date has become a holiday for this school.

I have heard from our elders stories about their schooling in classrooms located here and there, in Vranjevo and Novi Bečej, until exactly a hundred years ago, when in the heart of the town, a magnificent building emerged - the new school, which stands in the same place today, as beautiful as ever.

The first mention of the elementary school with solid evidence dates back to the year 1758. At that time, the school accommodated as many as 20 students per class, with a total of four classes.

In Novi Bečej, craftsmen and traders at the beginning of the 20th century, due to their needs for educated personnel, submitted a request to the county school supervision in Veliki Bečkerek on November 21, 1907, seeking assistance to establish a civic school at the Ministry of Education in Budapest.

Milоје Čiplić was born on February 25, 1912, in Novi Bečej. His parents, teachers in Novi Bečej, provided conditions for their three sons, of whom Milоје was the youngest, to prepare themselves in a well-ordered, quiet family environment to occupy higher positions on the social hierarchy than they did.

Levai Imre was one of the school principals with probably the longest tenure in that position. He joined the "Miloje Čiplić" Primary School in April of 1952. Moving from a teaching position to the role of assistant principal in 1958, he became the principal of the school in 1961.

In June 1978, major works commenced on the adaptation and expansion of the building of the Elementary School "Miloje Čiplić" in Novi Bečej. The investor, the General Education and Upbringing Institute (SIZ) Novi Bečej, entrusted this task to the "Bačkaprojekt" company from Temerin, with responsible architect Dragana Pajkić leading the project.

At eighty-seven years old, Konc, born László Etelek, is likely one of our oldest students who remembers the following details: "In the distant year of 1930, I attended elementary school and then secondary school. I still keep my first reader and fondly remember some of the poems. In first grade, my teacher was Ilona Haršanji.

Our school celebrates its centenary in 2010. We marked this magnificent jubilee with five days of activities celebrated at our school. Our hundredth birthday made all of us, the employees, prouder and more diligent, because celebrating a century of existence and dedicated work is no small feat, and it deserves attention.

Otherwise, the Elementary School "Miloje Čiplić" is the only school in the municipality of Novi Bečej that conducts classes in both Serbian and Hungarian. Additionally, it is the largest school in the Novi Bečej municipality in terms of the number of students, number of classes, spatial extent, and area.

There are very few preserved written documents about the origin of the school library. They are primarily based on the annual records of the civic school before World War II and, after the war, on the faded memories of retired teachers, individual resolutions (such as the resolution on the independent educational institution from 1963 and the resolution on the registration of the library in 1997), and inventory books.

Based on the annual records of the Civic School "ÉRTESíTŐJE" from the 1908/1909 school year written in Hungarian, we learn about the textbooks used in teaching, but not about the number of books or the librarian who issued them. Reading this record, we learn much more about the number and distribution of non-book materials and how much money was spent on their purchase.

Since 2005, the duties of the school librarian have been carried out by Marica Stojšin, a classroom teacher. The school library spaces are functionally arranged as a reading room and library section, accessible to every student, teacher, and other school staff. The book collection expands according to the school's financial capabilities, purchasing new literature required by the curriculum and program for each grade, as well as acquiring pedagogical, psychological, and other professional literature.

The orchestra of Elementary School "Miloje Čiplić" was founded in 2008. It consists of students from higher grades under the guidance of music culture teacher Sofija Gurjanov-Jegdić. The idea of forming a Renaissance orchestra playing recorders emerged from the school director Zorica Garčev, who happened to see such an orchestra on television, composed also of elementary school students. She invited teacher Sofija and asked her to switch to the TV channel she was watching, inquiring if she could create a similar orchestra at the school. Teacher Sofija agreed, and thus it began.

The orchestra of the "Miloje Čiplic" Elementary School is made up of interested and talented students. It all started with music lessons. During choir rehearsals, we used to clap our hands on desks to give rhythm for singing. We realized that wasn't the best solution. Teacher Sofija Gurjanov-Jegdić, the orchestra conductor, gathered students who would like to participate in an orchestra and explained to them what it involves.

Dr. Aleksandar Kašaš was born on January 27, 1952, in Novi Bečej (Banat). He completed elementary school at "Miloje Čiplić" and gymnasium in his hometown. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, History Group, in 1976 in Novi Sad, and obtained his master's degree in Belgrade in 1983. He earned his doctorate in Novi Sad in 1995 with a thesis on the Hungarians in Vojvodina from 1941-1946. The book under the same title was published the following year and is currently in its second, revised edition.

Jožef Čomor was born on March 5, 1960, in Novi Bečej, where he completed elementary school "Miloje Čiplić" in 1974. In 1978, he graduated from the Chemical-Technological High School in Zrenjanin. He then enrolled at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Department of Physical Chemistry, graduating in 1982 and beginning postgraduate studies the same year.

Drаgаnа Dаruši was born in 1962 in Krаlјеvo. She spent her early childhood in Krаlјеvo and Аdа. She completed elementary school, Milоје Čiplić, as a top student, in Nоvо Bеčеј. The first guidance in her life, alongside her parents, came from teachers Glumičić Dаnila and Мilicа Аrsеnоv, who left an indelible mark on her further work and life.

Gordana Vijatov was born on September 26, 1968, in Novi Bečej. She attended "Miloje Čiplić" Elementary School from 1975 to 1983 and was a recipient of the Vuk's Diploma. From 1983 to 1985, she completed two years of general secondary education at the "Ivo Lola Ribar" School for Secondary Directed Education in Novi Bečej with a grade of 5.00. The following two years, she attended the Secondary School for Social Activities "Koča Kolarov" in Zrenjanin, finishing with a grade of 5.00.

Dr. Vesna Milankov was born on July 28, 1967, in Novi Bečej. She attended elementary school "Miloje Čiplić" from 1974 to 1982, where she received the Vuk's Diploma for excellence. She enrolled in the "Svetozar Marković" school in Novi Sad in 1982, completing it with excellent grades in 1984.

Goran Miloradović was born in 1965 in Novi Bečej. He completed his history studies at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade in 1994. He defended his thesis on the topic "Zamyatin and History in the Novel 'We'" at the Department of General Modern History, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Andrej Mitrović. In 2000, he defended his master's thesis "Isolation Camps in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes (1919–1922)" at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, also under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Andrej Mitrović.

Born in 1977 in Zrenjanin. He attended the elementary school “Miloje Čiplić” from 1984 to 1992. He graduated from the gymnasium “Todor Dukin” in Bečej in 1996. He enrolled in the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad in 1996. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad in 2002.

Dr. István Janković was born in 1949 in Novi Bečej. He completed elementary school at "Miloje Čiplić" in 1963 in the Hungarian language. He attended the "Ivo Lola Ribar" Gymnasium in Novi Bečej. He enrolled at the Faculty of Food Technology in Novi Sad and graduated in 1972.

Dragan Maćoš was born on April 18, 1967, in Zrenjanin. From 1974 to 1982, he attended Miloje Čiplić Primary School in Novi Bečej. At the “Koča Kolarov” Gymnasium in Zrenjanin, he successfully graduated from the information technology program as one of the top students of his generation.

Dr. Vajs Bela was born in 1979 in Zrenjanin. He completed elementary school in 1994 at "Milоје Čiplić" Elementary School in Novi Bečej, where he was awarded the Vuk's Diploma and was a class valedictorian. In 1998, he graduated from the Nikola Tesla Vocational and Technical School in Zrenjanin, specializing in automation, also receiving a Vuk's Diploma for outstanding achievement.

Dr. Pataki Laslo was born on December 31, 1926, in Novi Bečej. He completed his elementary school in Novi Bečej and attended high school in Pančevo and Zrenjanin, graduating with excellent success. He enrolled in the Medical Faculty in Zagreb, which he finished in 1952. He specialized in pediatrics at the Medical Faculty in Belgrade and earned the title of primary care physician.

A sunny June morning in the distant year of 1981. Only a few more days until the end of the school year. On this 16th of June, the area around the school is bustling. Several classes are going on a long-awaited trip.

These days, students can hardly wait. It's an experience for them, an adventure. The third-grade students are the most excited. They crowd around the teacher, listening to the last pieces of advice from their parents – they are setting off on their first real excursion.
