The stage — the “boards that mean the world” — has been a lifelong inspiration for Saša Milenković, an actor, director, and passionate theater devotee who has dedicated his life to the art of performance.
Born in 1963, Saša stepped onto the theatrical scene in 1978 and has remained actively involved ever since, contributing immensely to the cultural and artistic life of Novi Bečej and beyond.
Throughout his rich career, he has performed in more than thirty plays, portraying a wide range of characters — from drama to comedy — always leaving a strong artistic impression. In the year 2000, he took on a new challenge as a theater director, discovering another dimension of creative expression. Since then, he has directed fifteen plays, six of which he also adapted himself. His dedication and talent have been recognized through numerous awards received at various festivals and theater gatherings across the country.
As president and secretary of the Amateur Theater “NB Teatar”, Saša Milenković played a key role in nurturing and developing the local theater scene. He organized festivals of small and experimental stages, as well as inter-district theater reviews for the regions of Central and Northern Banat and Northern Bačka, continuously promoting amateur creativity and inspiring younger generations of actors.
Out of his deep love for the stage was born the Comedy Festival “Jovan Knežević Caca”, first held in 2009 on his initiative. Since then, the festival has grown into one of the signature cultural events of Novi Bečej, bringing together theater lovers and amateur troupes from all parts of Serbia.
Thanks to his decades of work, commitment, and enthusiasm, Saša Milenković holds a special place in the theatrical history of Novi Bečej — as a man who has given everything to the stage: his talent, time, and sincere love for art.
