Dušan Kiurski (1896-?)

On the back of the photograph with Dušan Kiurski's stamp, it is written: "For eternal memory to my dear godfather"; it was written by Đ. Petrović from Vranjevo to sailor Dragomir Jovanović, who was recruited onto the Austro-Hungarian battleship "Szent István." The photograph is from 1915. From the collection of Karolj AndreDušan Kiurski was born in Vranjevo on June 9, 1896. His father, Dimitrije, came from Melenci and started a family with Slavna Galetin, a local woman from Vranjevo. Unfortunately, information about Dušan Kiurski's education and training in the photographic craft has not yet come to light, which has greatly limited our ability to publish his work. One piece of information was found in the marriage register of Novi Bečej, when he married Zorka Čolić in 1920: in that document, the groom's occupation is listed as a photographer.

Another piece of evidence of Dušan Kiurski's existence as a photographer is a photograph-postcard with his stamp that reads: KIURSZKI DUSÁN FÉNYKÉPÉSZ ARACS, (TOR. M.), and in Serbian: ДУШАН КИУРСКИ ФОТОГРАФ АРАЧ, (БАНАТ).
