Karolj Andre

Karolj Andre was born on July 21, 1951, in the former Novi Becej maternity hospital, located in the neighborhood of his father Sandor's family home, who was a machine fitter and electrician. He completed elementary school in his hometown and pursued his secondary education in Subotica. Throughout his short career, he worked as a laboratory technician in Novi Sad and Novi Becej.

In Novi Sad, he began collecting postage stamps and later expanded his collection to include postcards, photographs, and documents related to his hometown, Novi Becej. He was a member of the Philatelists Association of Novi Becej (1974–1976, 1981–2009) and the Philatelists Society of Novi Sad (1976–1981). He exhibited his collection of postage stamps from the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in Belgrade in 1993 and Novi Sad in 1999, earning a large silver medal. In 2003, the same collection was awarded a gilded medal in Timisoara. In Novi Becej, he showcased his collection of old Novi Becej postcards to fellow residents at the Cultural Center in 1983 and 1989, at the Skladiste Club in 2004, and at Glavas's House for the Night of the Museum in 2010.

Alongside collecting documents about Novi Becej, Karolj Andre also engaged in researching the history of his region. From his extensive archive and new insights into the past of his birthplace, he gifted the people of Novi Becej four publications in the form of books printed between 1994 and 2014. He occasionally participated in various exhibitions at the Cultural Center in Novi Becej and collaborated with the Zrenjanin and Kikinda National Museums.
