In issue 4 of the municipal newspaper "Naše novine" from August 14, 1965, a year after the appearance of VlSa LIRA, the following text was published: "During 1964, the existing music section at the elementary school 'Milan Stančić Uča' in Kumane was seriously developed. Music teacher Svetislav Gvozdenov aims to introduce young music enthusiasts to all the secrets of this noble art. Several boys and girls persisted in their enthusiasm, dedicating much of their free time to their teacher throughout the past and this year.
Thanks to their great perseverance, they likely pleasantly surprised the people of Kumane with their talent and performances at several ceremonial academies and events. Through successful appearances in Novo Miloševo, Novi Bečej, Elemir, and Zrenjanin, they gained a certain recognition that motivates them for further work. During this summer, the assembled orchestra 'Mladost' entertains the youth at dance parties. Almost every afternoon and evening, the sounds of their guitars can be heard from the park where, surrounded by young people, they practice new compositions."
The orchestra "Mladost" consisted of:
- Siniša Brusin, born 1948 – electric guitar
- Đura Gladić, born 1950 – accordion, drums
- Slobodan Kojić, born 1950 – double bass
- Milena Maksić, born 1949 – guitar
- Duško Maksić-Cule, born 1950 – guitar and lead vocalist
- Radivoj Titin-Rada, born 1950 – guitar and lead vocalist
- Stevan Mučalov, born 1949 – guitar
In fact, the school music orchestra at that time included three girls in addition to the men:
- Milena Maksić, born 1949 – guitar
- Slavica Varadinac, born 1949 – guitar
- Mira S. Sekulić, born 1947 – accordion
They all tirelessly learned music notes and the basics of musical education. After finishing elementary school, these girls did not appear in the music ensemble – the orchestra, but continued to individually perfect their skills for a while before eventually leaving music. The complete music ensemble last performed at the New Year’s Eve event in 1965 at the Youth Hall in Kumane. The event was organized for the village youth. This is how the newspapers reported it, and the story continues...
After finishing elementary school, these enthusiasts formed 'Lire' and performed under this name from 1965 to the first half of the 70s. In the first five years, the orchestra leader was Siniša Brusin-Čapur, and later Duško Maksić-Cule. The first solo performance of LIRE was at the graduation evening on May 20, 1965, in Kumane. The group's name was almost accidentally given when their teacher Gvozdenov attached badges with the symbol of the musical instrument lyre, in recognition of their successful performance at the school event.
After 1970, Rada Titin, Slobodan Kojić, and Đura Gladić left for the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA), and the following joined LIRA:
- Duško D. Brusin, born 1950 – drums
- Kamenko Đ. Cicvarin, born 1955
- Ljubiša M. Stanisavljev, born 1953
