The municipality of Novi Bečej is located in the northeastern part of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, in the northwestern Banat region, within the Banat Potisje area. In addition to Novi Bečej itself, the municipality includes three more settlements: Novo Miloševo, Bočar, and Kumane.
To the north and northeast, the municipality of Novi Bečej borders the territory of the municipality of Kikinda, to the east and south it borders the municipality of Zrenjanin, while its western boundary is formed by the Tisa River, serving as a natural border with the municipalities of Ada, Bečej, and Žabalj. Within these boundaries, the territory of Novi Bečej covers an area of 609 km².
Due to its central location between three important economic centers — Zrenjanin, Kikinda, and Bečej — as well as its relative proximity to major cities such as Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Subotica, along with neighboring Hungary and Romania, which represent significant emissive centers and areas, the municipality of Novi Bečej enjoys a favorable tourist and geographical position.
This advantageous position is further supported by good transportation connections via road, railway, and river-canal routes. Particularly significant is the fact that the Tisa River is bridged precisely at Novi Bečej, linking the municipality with the western parts of Vojvodina and the important European transport route E-75.
The Tisa River, flowing along the western edge of the municipality, represents a quality navigable waterway and a potentially very important nautical and tourist destination, thus greatly contributing to the attractiveness of this area.
